About the application:

The automated praline picker "Chocomatic" from Roose Automation, consists of a robolink® articulated arm robot
that moves on a seventh axis. The flexible workspace and integrated camera system allows the robot to automatically grip pre-selected pralines and carefully deposit them in a box.
All the customer needs to do is select the pralines with a mobile device. If no more pralines of a certain type are present, customers will no longer be able to select that type, and employees will be notified that it requires refilling.

The problem

Small and medium-sized companies often lack the capital necessary to acquire the expensive robot licenses required to work with large name-brand robotics providers. Overall, complete robotic automation solutions are often very costly and do not provide the annual returns that would make them attractive to an SME.
Many robot systems are also designed for industrial applications and are too comprehensive or complex for smaller applications.

The solution:

In the automated praline picker system, a robolink® robot arm moves on a drylin® ZLW axis that adds the so-called seventh axis to the robot's workspace.
The customer selects his pralines on a mobile device; the robot grips them and deposits them in a box. The robot uses an integrated camera system to scan the pralines and gather information about their position and height.  Employees require no training or programming knowledge, since the robot's integrated control system is user-friendly.
The igus® low-cost praline picker is especially effective as a tourist attraction for praline companies and museums.
It also increases hygiene because the chocolates do not come into contact with people and are placed directly into the box.
